When customer's purchase the NU-CONcept Luminous marker they will obtain very good results using the, provided, luminous filters which may be easily attached to YOUR sunglasses. The filters provided with the luminous marker kit have been specially altered, using spectral analysis, to compensate for the most common grey/smoke or blue sunglass lenses. However, you will find that the optional NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses with "built-in" filter will provide you will clearer, easier to read luminous marks under a wider range of lighting conditions than any "attached" filter can provide.

In May 2006, NU-CONcept introduced, as an option,  NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses with the filter "built-into" strong polycarbonate lenses. The filter built INTO the Luminous Enhancing Sunglass lenses are slightly different from the filter provided which is normally provided with the Luminous Marker kit. This is because the Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses allow you to look directly through the filter vs. looking through a filter AND your normal sunglass lenses. Since the Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses allow you to look directly through the luminous filter, the filter did not have to be altered to compensate for normal sunglasses lens tints. Therefore, the Luminous Enhancing Sunglass lenses will always be superior vs. looking through regular sunglasses that have an attached filter.

During normal indoor or outdoor viewing, the Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses sunglasses provide a comfortable blue/grey tint. You control seeing the marks simply by looking through the lens at the "correct" location which will not interfere with your normal vision.

Luminous technology evolution

Origin of luminous marked cards:

Advantages:

Originally, luminous marked cards were invented by gamblers who wanted to cheat at poker, blackjack, rummy, bridge or any other card game. They discovered that special lenses could be designed to filter very specific frequencies of light which allow luminous marks to appear on the back of cards when playing cards are viewed with with the naked eye through the lens.

Disadvantages:

Because very specific frequencies of light need to be filtered, the original luminous sunglasses appeared to have an odd red color which tended to draw attention to the person wearing these sunglasses. Another problem with these early sunglasses was that the world appeared colored, which was very annoying to the wearer of the filtered sunglasses.

Some people even made visors with this same filter in an attempt to be more unobtrusive and to avoid having to look through the annoying filter all of the time.

For years NU-CONcept customers have been using regular sunglasses and the special luminous filter. However, in 2006, NU-CONcept brought to the marketplace another advance in luminous technology. Using the same patented luminous marker/pen you no longer have to gimmick regular sunglasses. NU-CONcept has machine manufactured the filter directly INTO the lenses vs. manually attaching the filter ONTO the sunglass lenses.

• There is no risk of anyone seeing the "built-in" luminous filter while you are wearing the NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses.

• You no longer have to cut the plastic filter, fit, align it and attach it to your sunglasses.

• You can easily clean your premium sunglasses, worry about wrinkling the filter or getting water between the filter and the lens. This is because the filter is not attached to NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses with "built-in" filter, the luminous filter built into the lens itself.

• NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses with "built-in" filter tend to work well in much wider range of lighting environments (low, medium, bright and daylight)

To recap, if you gimmick regular sunglasses, which already have a tint, they are inherently made darker by adding a luminous filter to your normal sunglass lens. This issue is a consideration for any luminous sunglasses which you gimmick yourself.

NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses with "built-in" filter are not very dark because the luminous filter is manufactured into the lens vs. adding a filter onto the standard sunglasses. Therefore, they will make reading any luminous marked card easier to read under a wider variety of lighting conditions.

• By their very nature, lighter/more subtle marks are more deceptive and will likely fool those people "in the know" who use traditional sunglasses with a luminous filter attached BEHIND the lens. By manufacturing the luminous filter INTO the lens NU-CONcept will allow you to make your luminous marks more deceptive when using the NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses with "built-in" filter.

• NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses with "built-in" filter have a gradiated tint and a gradiated flash mirror coating for a more stylish look and ease of use.

You can start the evening by wearing the un-gimmicked sunglasses or you can casually lay them on the table so people can see they are normal. Then you can easily switch the normal sunglasses for your matching Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses to read the marked cards. Later, you can switch them back for the un-gimmicked sunglasses, in case someone wants to look at them.

Note: The filtered Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses are comfortable to wear indoors or outdoors because the filter is positioned so it does not interfere with your normal vision. You only need duplicate unfiltered sunglasses if you think that people may be suspicious.

Prices:

NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses have the filter "built-into" high quality polycarbonate lenses which sell for $99 (see pricing page) as an add-on option to the NU-CONcept luminous marker kit (This is a $20 discount). If you decide to purchase the sunglasses by themselves, then the price will be $119 for people who do not own NU-CONcept products.

NU-CONcept Sunglass History

The NU-CONcept Evolution started about 25+ years ago:

In the early 1980s NU-CONcept discovered that a filter could be modified to be attached behind many "every day" sunglasses. The NU-CONcept specially designed filter is made of plastic and works best when attached behind a pair of everyday smoke, grey or blue grey sunglasses. Flash mirrored sunglasses with a sleight wrap around tend to enhance deceptiveness and ease of use. This is the technology which NU-CONcept sells today as it's primary luminous solution offering.

NU-CONcept Advantages:

Disadvantages of applying a filter to standard sunglasses:

• Works best in medium to brightly lit environments. This is because you are taking the luminous filter and applying it BEHIND tinted sunglasses which have a tint of their own. There should be no surprise that having BOTH a luminous filter AND the natural tint of sunglasses will require more illumination in the room to see the marks because the double tint (i.e. sunglass lens AND filter) makes the sunglasses very dark.

(**) - Note: NU-CONcept has subcontracted with a professional lab to place non-prescription NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing lenses into professional Ophthalmic Quality frames. Common drug store frames and "knock-off name brand" frames will not withstand the fitting of the NU-CONcept polycarbonate lenses. If you supply NU-CONcept with your own frames, NU-CONcept and the lab cannot be responsible for damage to your frames. The lab will evaluate all customer supplied frames and fit the lenses on a "best effort" basis. However, due to potential hairline structural defects which are not apparent until actual lens mounting occurs, NU-CONcept cannot guarantee results with customer supplied frames. As you can see from the photos above, NU-CONcept products have a more contemporary style and are designed in such a way that your view of the world will not appear red while filtering the frequencies of light that are required to see luminous elements. Below is a photo of same scene with NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses (TM) placed in front of the camera lens where your eyes normally view the world. Bear in mind that luminous marks will be seen only when you look through a certain part of the sunglasses as described in the instructions.

The majority of each NU-CONcept lens is a comfortable blue/grey/smoke tint which does not distort your vision (photo above). NU-CONcept manufactured the luminous filter directly into the lenses at strategic locations, as to not interfere with normal vision. Yet, you will be able to see the luminous element markings when you desire. This feature makes NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing sunglasses much more comfortable to wear (see above photo for your "normal" view of the world through NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses).
