"Knowledge is Power" with NU-CONcept marked
cards
To covertly make ad-hoc marked playing cards while people are
watching use:
NU-CONcept N-Dust (TM)
- Invented
December 2007
N-Dust is the latest and best version of Juice Dust. It is
easier to use and transport than the Juice Dust invented in 2006.
(All NU-CONcept Dust products are generally superior to
daubs/pastes on both paper based (Bees, Bicycles, Tally-HO, Aviator, etc) AND
100% plastic cards (KEM, Copag, Gemaco)

(*) - While all daub/paste and dust
product are easy to conceal. Juice Dust is slightly harder to conceal because
you must conceal a 1.5 inch x 1.5 inch Juice Dust packet. The NU-CONcept
manuscript discusses various concealment methods. N-Dust is transported
diferently than Juice Dust and it is more flexable because it may be used on a
wider variety of playing cards.
(**) - Regular Luminous daub or dust
is NOT recommended, except for experienced customers. This is because luminous
daub and dust products are applied with your finger and it is difficult to avoid
white areas of the card. To compensate for this issue, the luminous marks must
be made lighter than the luminous marker. Hence, the marks are harder to read.
(***) - Solutions/inks and
daub/paste have the potential to slightly dull the finish of some playing
cards. But, this is easy to repair. Daub/dust products will never alter the
finish of your cards.
If you want to make ad-hoc marked
cards, NU-CONcept STRONGLY recommends Juice Dust or N-Dust because it can, and
should be, applied to the white portions of the back design. However, you
still need to avoid the white borders.
NOTE: If you want to use a luminous
daub/dust, to make ad-hoc marked cards, NU-CONcept recommends using the
Ultra-Luminous daub/dust product. It is easy to use because it can not be
detected on white areas of playing cards. Ultra-Luminous products may also be
used on the white borders of playing cards, unlike other luminous products.
N-Dust is the newest "Next
Generation" Juice Dust
(2 years in development by NU-CONcept and Only available through NU-CONcept)
- introduced to the market in 2007
(The world's First and Only all
purpose Juice Dust (TM))
PROBLEM: Sure you
can mark your own deck in the privacy of your home. But, sometimes you may
want to use someone else's deck and you do not know know the color of the
cards you need to mark OR you do not know if they are using paper or plastic
cards ahead of time....
SOLUTION: N-Dust is the
"Next generation" of Juice Dust which will work on paper and most 100% plastic
playing cards. N-Dust is different than Juice Dust because it may be used on
almost any color playing card (i.e. red, blue, green, burgundy, etc.) N-Dust
is also packaged and applied differently than Juice Dust and is highly
concentrated, so only a few grains may be used to mark an entire deck cards.
Each order will give you a supply which will mark
approximately 60 to 100 decks or cards, depending upon the size of your
marks and intensity.
NU-CONcept Juice Dust
(TM)
(Only available through NU-CONcept)
Easy to conceal. Juice dust is packaged in
a "sealed" package about 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches square. The packaging is
easily attached to your clothing or even parts of your body (hidden by your
cloths). Each Juice Dust (TM)
packet will mark approximately 30 to 60+ decks or cards depending upon the
size of your marks and intensity.
Daub/paste and Juice Dust
(TM) should match
the color of your cards (available in red, blue, green, burgundy or luminous)
So, if you want to mark red and blue decks, you will need 2 Juice Dust
(TM) packets.
(Custom colors are also available upon request))
Great for performing magic with a borrowed
deck of playing cards
Dust products have an advantage over a
Juice marker's solution. Simply by touching someone else's playing cards
with NU-CONcept dust products, you can mark cards right in front of someone,
without them knowing that you marked their cards OR you can mark them in the
privacy of your own home. For the most deceptive marks you should use Juice
Dust (TM) or daub / paste which matches the color deck you are using.
One of N-Dust's major advantages is that
it is Juice that, you can use to mark almost any color card
without having to worry about matching colors.
APPLYING DAUBs,
JUICE DUST (TM) or N-DUST in the privacy of your own home is VERY
EASY !
ON THE OTHER
HAND, APPLYING DAUBs, JUICE DUST (TM) or N-DUST SECRETLY, WHILE
PEOPLE ARE WATCHING, REQUIRES SOME PRACTICE WHEN MAKING "AD-HOC"
JUICED CARDS. THIS IS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT WANT TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE YOU
ARE TOUCHING THE CARDS IN STRATEGIC LOCATIONS OBVIOUS, SO PRACTICE
BEFORE APPLYING DAUB OR JUICE DUST (TM) TO A CARD, IN FRONT OF A
SPECTATOR.
Easily make, tintwork or juice style marks
which do not require pre-gimmicked sunglasses to read the marks
NU-CONcept
solutions in a marker/pen and Juice Dust
(TM)
are permanent or very long lasting
vs. daub / paste products which tend to wear off as cards are used over
time.
IMPORTANT: NU-CONcept Dust
products will not damage/dull the finish of playing cards. Daub/paste
products may dull the finish due to the natural dulling property of pastes.
But, some "old-timers" prefer paste style products because that is what they
learned with.
NU-CONcept
"no-mess" Juice marker/pen applicator leaves permanent marks (tested with over
1,000 shuffles and many days of use). NU-CONcept Juice Dust
(TM) was also tested with over
700 shuffles to verify permanence of the Juice Dust
(TM)
or N-Dust
marks.
Conversly,
NU-CONcept daub/past is not as long lasting as the Juice Dust
(TM)or
N-Dust.
If you want to mark
BOTH paper (i.e. Bees, Bicycles, etc.) AND most 100% plastic cards (Copag,
KEM, Gemaco, etc.), NU-CONcept suggests using N-Dust or Juice Dust
(TM).

OR
Will you be able to read Juice marks
with practice ?
Without giving away secrets of how to un-focus your eyes "at
will" to read Juice solution, Juice dust or N-Dust marks. Reading Juice is
similar to seeing some optical illusions. But, different because regular playing
cards are used with special chemicals to create a similar optical effect. The following pictures will show you why
crossing your eyes and squinting does not work.
In the first picture, you will notice that the center circle
looks unfocused, almost looks like it is floating and shimmers and moves as your
eyes and head move. If you can see this movement in the circle of this still picture, then you
are on your way to reading juice.
NOTE: In reality the dots in the grid
below are not moving. If you see them vibrating, it is because if am optical
illusion releated to the scientific principal behind reading Juice marks.
The second example, which is not as easy as the image above, is designed so you
see is a person's face. Stare at the vertical lines and throw your eyes out of
focus. Sometimes looking at the picture from a different angle helps too. With
very little practice, you should be able to see the face in the image instantly.
A third, slightly more difficult example is to see if you can
un-focus your eyes and see the shadowy face of a woman in the "dots" below. The
woman's face may suddenly appear and then vanish. This is normal.
If you can see the woman's face in the dots above, you are on your way to being able to
read Juice marks on playing cards. But, I will stop here because I do not want
to give away secrets. If I gave away all the tips, then the secret behind
reading Juice would become common knowledge and people who are using the secret
would not be happy.
The purpose behind showing the optical illusions above to to
give the reader an idea of what Juice marks look like (i.e.. shadowy images) vs.
Juice marks which are sometimes shown in Hollywood movies, like the movie "Shade",
which is an exaggeration of how Juice marks are read and what they look like.
(Movie
clip from the movie "Shade"
Juice from Shade.mov .
Full movie trailer may be found on
http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808413759/info .)
Obviously, the 3 black and white pictures above are not
playing cards and the tips given in the NU-CONcept manuscript are more specific, detailed
and deal with reading Juice or N-Dust marks on playing cards. But, you will notice that squinting and crossing your eyes do not
help to see the woman's face or read Juiced cards.
This is what the woman's face should look like in the picture
above:
(Her ghostly face should be easier to see in the smaller image. She looks like
Marylyn Monroe (blond hair and closed eyes).)
For those people who do not want to practice reading Juice
marks, you should know that un-focusing of your eyes is not required to read
regular luminous or Ultra-Luminous marked cards because the filtered sunglasses
or contact lenses do 99% of the work for you. Hence, luminous technology is the
easiest to use and read ! However, Juice is the best alternative
for people who do not want to use filters and are willing to practice to
un-focus their eyes at will.
NU-CONcept daub / paste
Easy to conceal. Each can of NU - CON cept
daub / Paste is approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter (round) and about 1/4
inch deep - supply will mark 150+ decks of cards.
Daub / paste will
ONLY work on paper based playing cards (Bee, Bicycle, Tally-Ho,
Hoyle, Aviator, etc.)
Note: Daub / Paste is only
recommended for people who MUST mark cards while in front of spectators.
If you can switch the borrowed deck for your own pre-mark cards, I
suggest using the solutions or a NU-CONcept Dust product because
daub/paste may dull the finish of cards and are
not as "long lasting" as dusts or solutions. NU-CONcept only
continues to sell daub for "old timers" who do not want to upgrade to
new technology.
When buying daub ask yourself "How will I be using the
daub or Juice Dust (TM) ?":
Do I want the daub to rub off easily? For
some magic effects, cheap "copy-cat" daub products are good because they
can be rubbed off very easily, just with a wipe of the finger. In this
way, the evidence of marking the spectators selected card is erased in a
second once it is found. NU-CONcept daub / paste and Juice Dust
(TM) is designed to be long lasting
for those magic effects which need the marks to last for several hours
of heavy use. (Note: Juice Dust (TM)
tends to be permanent and much longer lasting than
NU-CONcept daub / paste.)
How deceptive (dark) do I want the marks ? For
some magic effects, dark marks made by cheap daubs are great since the
mark is easy to see and the risk of exposure is limited because you can
easily wipe off the daub with a swipe of your finger as soon as you find
the spectator's card. NU-CONcept daubs and Juice Dust
(TM) are much more subtle and
deceptive than less expensive daubs. It needs to be, because NU-CONcept
daub / past or Juice Dust (TM)
marks will last for a long time. If NU-CONcept left dark
marks they will be noticed by your audience quickly.
Secretly, touch or gently rub your finger to
the NU-CONcept (daub / paste), or Juice Dust (TM)
or N-Dust (TM). A small amount
will adhere to your finger.
When you know a card's value (i.e. Ace, 2,
3, etc.) you touch the back of the card with your finger with the dust or
daub/paste. (The
location of the mark is encoded by you.)
You have control of weather you want to use
"juice style" marks or "tintwork" style marking patterns. The choice is
yours, depending upon your experience level and back design of the playing
card.
For example:
Ace
King
Actual photo of NU-CONcept
daub / paste can
(I did not include a photo of the NU-CONcept Juice Dust
(TM) or N-Dust (TM)
packaging because I want to preserve the secret and investment of my customers)
NU-CONcept does not recommend luminous daub or luminous Juice
Dust
(TM) for beginners or intermediate
users. While luminous solution in the NU-CONcept marker is easy to use for
everyone, the luminous daub/paste or dust should only be used by an
experienced professional. This is because the daub/paste and dust products
must be applied by using your finger. The NU-CONcept permanent luminous
marker/pen can apply solution with pinpoint accuracy. Therefore, keeping
luminous solution on the red printed areas of the back design is easy.
Conversely, applying the luminous elements with your finger can accidentally
allow the daub or dust to hit the white areas of the card. Luminous daub or
dust is designed to be used on red ink and may be seen on the white areas of
a card. Hence, NU-CONcept only recommends luminous daub or dust for
experienced customers.
Serious professionals may
want to consider
"Ultra-Luminous" dust/daub or solution which may even be used
on the white borders of cards with some practice.
NU-CONcept recommends that most beginners and intermediate customers use one
of the NU-CONcept Dust products
or (daub / paste) which is close to the color of the back design of the
cards which are being used. (i.e. Red for red cards, blue for blue cards,
green for green cards). N-Dust may be used on almost any color playing card.
If beginners or intermediate customers want to use luminous, NU-CONcept
suggests using the luminous marker/pen on paper based playing cards (ie.
Bees, Bicycles, Aviators, Tally-HO, etc.) or upgrade to Ultra-Luminous
technology.
(Note: If you want luminous marked cards, luminous daub &
luminous Juice Dust (TM) is available, but
NU-CONcept only recommends luminous solution in the permanent marker/pen
applicator for beginner and intermediate customers. Bear in mind
that you must use the marker/pen applicator in the privacy of you own home.
Conversely, the red, blue and green Juice Dust
(TM) and daubs are just as easy to use
for beginners, as well as for the most experienced professionals. It is just
the luminous daub or luminous Juice Dust (TM) which takes practice and
experience.)
The "shade"
left on the playing cards by the daub (red for red cards and blue for blue
cards) is so subtle, it cannot be easily photographed. But it can be seen by
the naked eye, if you know it is there and what you are looking for. Juice
Dust may be applied like traditional daub using "tintwork" marking patterns
or by using traditional "juice style" marking patterns (all described with
color photographs in the NU-CONcept manuscript).
Red and/or blue Juice Dust
(TM) or daub are ideally suited if you
MUST use a borrowed deck of playing cards AND you do not want to wear
sunglasses. However, if you can use your own cards or of you can
switch decks, the NU-CONcept permanent solutions are the preferred card
marking technology.
Reminder:
N-Dust may be used on red, blue, burgundy, green and most other color
playing cards.
Note: I can also provide daub to make ad-hoc "glimmer" decks
using silver / reflective daub. However, I only sell this "by request"
because I feel that a "glimmer" effect is easily noticed by a spectator, if
and when a light hit's the cards the wrong way. However, if you want
"Glimmer daub" please inquire via eMail.
