Juice Dust (TM)
Juice Dust works best when it matches the color card you are using (such as red Juice Dust for red cards, Blue Juice Dust for Blue cards, etc.)
Bear in mind that N-Dust is the latest generation of Juice technology. N-Dust works on most color cards so you do not need to worry about the color of the cards being used. In addition, N-Dust is easier to transport than Juice Dust and works on paper, as well as most plastic cards.
Juice Dust using "Juice" marking patterns KEM Club Design, Copag (Export or Master), Modiano or Gemaco Classic Use large "JUICE" or small "Tint Work" Marking Patterns on cards which have a uniform back design (Bee "like" grid). Since large JUICE marking patterns can be read from a greater distance, people tend to use "JUICE" markings whenever possible. |
|
Juice Dust using "Tint Work" marking patterns KEM Arrow Design or Copag 1546 Non-uniform or artistic back designs tend to work best when "Tint Work" marking patterns are used. This is because the these back designs have larger white areas and large JUICE-style marks may be seen on the white areas of the card. |
|
Note: Each deck was shuffled 600+ times to test permanence of Juice Dust & N-Dust markings
What is the difference between JUICE marking patterns and Tint Work marking patterns?
Large JUICE marking patterns | Tint Work marking patterns | |
Distance visibility |
Traditionally JUICE is used to make large marking patterns which may be seen near or far (2-8+ foot visibility) Specific marking patterns, locations and recommendations are discussed in the instructions |
The JUICE solution may also be used to make "Tint Work" marking patterns. Traditionally, Tint Work involves the application of "SHADE" to areas of the card which have a good ratio of color and white design. Therefore, you use JUICE to "TINT" smaller areas of the card which allows visibility from 2-4 feet (across a table). Specific marking patterns, locations and recommendations are discussed in the instructions |
Which technology is best for plastic cards? |
In general, Juice Dust (TM) is by far the easiest technology to use on most 100% plastic cards. Juice Dust (TM) is easiest when applied in private. But, with a little practice you can mark cards right in front of people, without their knowledge....using their own cards. While regular Luminous Juice Dust is available, most people will find that regular (red or blue, etc.) Juice Dust is more deceptive on many 100% plastic cards...or Ultra-Luminous Dust is the best choice. Each Juice Dust (TM)packet will mark 30-50 decks of cards. But, you actual result may be a lot more or a little less depending upon the size and intensity of your marks. (Juice Dust (TM)is available for red, blue, Burgundy or green backed cards) N-Dust in the Next generation of Juice Dust. Each order will mark 60-100 decks and will mark many different color cards. Including paper and most plastic cards. |
Luminous tends to be easier to use on paper based cards than on most 100% plastic cards. Therefore, NU-CONcept recommends using Juice Dust (TM) which most closely matches you card's color or The same Juice Dust (TM) or N-Dust may also be used to make darker "tintwork" marking patterns Each Juice Dust (TM) packet will mark 30-50 decks of cards. While N-Dust will mark 60-100 decks. But, your actual result may be a lot more or a little less depending upon the size and intensity of your marks. Tint work style marking patterns may be used on KEM Arrow or Club back design cards as well as Copag, Gemaco and Modiano cards, etc. (Juice is available in red, blue, burgundy or for green backed cards. If you want custom colored Juice, please feel free to ask and be prepared to send NU-CONcept a couple of sample cards to match.) |
Basically, the main difference between large JUICE and Tint Work marking patterns is how the solution or dust is applied to the cards. The same solutions (Luminous or JUICE) may be applied using larger JUICE-style marking patterns or using smaller Tint Work-style marking patterns. Since KEM Arrow back cards have larger contiguous white areas, Tint Work is recommended so the SHADE cannot be seen on the white areas of Arrow back KEMs.
See "marked card examples" to gain more insight into large Juice, Tint work and Flash marking patterns.

JUICE DUST (TM)/ N-Dust or ULTRA-LUMINOUS DUST (TM) - to mark a borrowed KEM, Copag, Modiano or Gemaco deck without their knowledge, while they are watching
NU-CONcept STRONGLY recommends the use of red, blue, green or burgandy Juice Dust (TM) or N-Dust on KEM, Copag, Gemaco or Modiano cards versus the regular NU-CONcept Luminous Dust (TM). This is because Juice Dust (TM) and N-Dust is more forgiving and easier to use than regular Luminous Dust on most 100% plastic cards due to the shades of ink used to print some playing card back designs.
If price is not an issue, and you would like to use luminous technology on plastic cards, NU-CONcept suggests that you look at the Ultra-Luminous product line which is available in a solution/ink or a daub/dust.
If a customer requires the use of a luminous or juice marker/solution for most 100% plastic cards, please eMail NU-CONcept for details to discuss a solution's pros and cons. In 99% of the cases, NU-CONcept "Dust" products are much easier to use on most 100% plastic cards vs. a solution.

So, should I purchase the Luminous or JUICE Dust? In a nutshell, you must decide:
How much effort you are willing to put into learning to read markings?
Luminous shade is generally easier to read on paper based cards than on 100% plastic cards. This is primarily do to the wide variance in the shades of red and the back designs which are used on many 100% plastic cards. Due to these characteristics of 100% plastic cards, NU-CONcept generally recommends limiting the use of luminous products to paper based cards. Luminous on 100% plastic cards should be used only by experienced customers or if the shade of red of the card is good for luminous markings. However, if price is not an issue, then NU-CONcept suggests looking at Ultra-Luminous technology.
Due to the constraint discussed above, NU-CONcept generally recommends the use of JUICE (red, blue, burgundy or green) whenever "shade" marks are used on 100% plastic cards. Traditional Juice markings may take a little practice to read. However, the same juice solution may be used to make tint work marking patterns. This is accomplished by applying the juice a bit darker for easier reading.
It should be noted that all NU-CONcept products are easy to apply. - I find that juice or tintwork marks is more deceptive on 100% plastic playing cards than luminous depending upon the back design of the card you choose to use. (If you find that your back designs have large white areas or have a more more elaborate vs. consistent/uniform back design you will find that tintwork using juice is, generally, more deceptive than using a luminous solution.)
In general, I recommend that beginners, who have never marked 100% plastic cards, start with using red or blue Juice Dust (TM) or N-Dust (TM) to make tint work or juice style markings patterns. While luminous solution work great on red Bees, Bicycles, etc. due to the shade of red in their back design, 100% plastic cards (KEM, Copag, etc.) playing cards have more variance in the shades of red used. In addition, their artistic back designs make keeping the luminous solution on the red areas of the card trickier.
To summarize, while luminous may be the easiest to use with paper based playing cards (Bee, Bicycles, etc.), I generally suggest that novices start with red or blue Juice Dust (TM) on KEM/Copag playing cards to make juice or tint work marking patterns.
Note: There is one exception to the above argument.....Ultra-Luminous. Ultra-luminous will work on both paper and 100% plastic cards and, with practice, it may even be used on the white borders. But, it is meant ONLY for the serious professional.
Is wearing sunglasses reasonable?
This is a personal decision. But, bear in mind that they even wear sunglasses in the World Series of Poker. Luminous marks require that you gimmick your sunglasses with the supplied filter gimmick vs. JUICE/Tint Work which does not use and sunglasses or filter
- Red, Burgundy, Blue or Green backed playing cards? (Luminous works BEST on red backed cards. But, NU-CONcept has juice available for red, blue, green or burgundy backed cards) or you may use N-Dust as a more practical Juice Dust product.
If you have an unusual color card, please eMail us with a web site link or JPG image for evaluation.
Note: KEM/Copaq Solutions in jar form are Poisonous, flammable and should only be used in a well ventilated room. Do not use near flames and do not smoke. Solution must be kept out of reach of children and should only be used by responsible adults. Once cards are marked, tightly close jar of solution. Solution will quickly evaporate from cards and the card's will have no tell tale odor or feel. You are ready to go in less than 1 hour ! On the other hand, the marker/pen is safe unless you lick, eat or smell the marker. This is never advised :-) This is not a problem for NU-CONcept markers, Juice Dust, N-Dust products or daub.
Why buy pre-marked "shaded" decks for $80-$120 per deck ?
Save money by marking your own KEM back design playing cards !
Mark 15-30 decks for less than the price of 2 pre-marked decks
(*) Luminous Dust (TM) for KEM, Copag, Gemaco or Modiano (100% plastic) cards
Note: If you decide to order Luminous Dust (TM), NU-CONcept advises that you also order NU-CONcept Luminous Enhancing Sunglasses. This is because having a luminous filter built INTO your sunglasses will make the marks easier to read, under a wider variety of lighting conditions than if you attach the filter behind your own sunglasses. Please go to pricing page for Luminous Enhancing Sunglass options).
Note: FLASH marked cards are much harder to make and read than regular luminous or juice marked cards. Do not order FLASH unless you are experienced reading Juice marked cards. FLASH is for experienced professionals ONLY ! Beginners will find this FLASH difficult to use.
Note: If you want information on Luminous solution in a marker/pen applicator, please eMail NU-CONcept at inquiry@marked-cards.com Bear in mind that the Luminous Dust (TM) is easier to use on 100% plastic playing cards than using a solution in a marker/pen applicator.
(Most customers should NOT use the Luminous Dust. NU-CONcept recommends red or blue or green or burgundy depending upon the color or your cards.)
